Gorilla Safari

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Bwindi’s Impenetrable Forest known, as such due to its dense undergrowth consisting of vines and other vegetation is a true African rain forest.  The lowland rainforest and montane forest vegetation constantly struggles to reach heights that will allow it to receive more light. The Bwindi National Park is sanctuary to more than half the world’s 600 remaining mountain gorillas - the rarest of the gorilla species.

Day 4 - Gorilla Tracking
This day is the highlight of your safari. After an early break fast your trackers who will be your guides for the day will meet you.  After a thorough briefing on do’s and don’ts you set out into the thick vegetation in search of gorillas.  It is not easy to predict where or how far away the gorillas will be, as they can move considerable distances when feeding.  Therefore you have to be prepared for a hard and tiring walk over steep hills, which can be slippery due to frequent showers. However, when you find the gorillas your fatigue is forgotten and replaced by a feeling of excitement and fascination, as you watch these gentle primates feeding and playing.   You remain with the group for an hour, and then start making your way back.  Stop on the way back for a picnic lunch.  Dinner and overnight in Buhoma.

Day 5  - Bwindi

Another day of gorilla tracking for those who have chosen this extra option. Otherwise take the forest walk to the beautiful waterfalls and marvel at the splendor of this ancient African forest.
In the afternoon return to Mbarara and overnight at the Lake View Hotel.

Day 6  - Kampala
Return to Kampala and overnight at Hotel.  You can also choose to continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park on Safari (MS012).
